The Tehaleh Information Center is a multifunctional outdoor space and the heart of its community – the central place for neighbors to meet and connect with the natural setting. A large south terrace off the building focuses attention on Mount Rainier.  This terrace allows for activities ranging from large barbeques to drinking a quiet cup of coffee. A low seating wall forms the edge to the groves of Katsura trees, which provide year-round interest.
On the north side of the building is a large community green for impromptu play or large community gatherings. The north entry garden is framed by a warming shelter to the west and the trailhead to the east. Native plantings blend into the setting and create opportunities for education and play. Rainwater activates a dry streambed and provides an imaginative natural play area.
