The multi-use public space provides the Port of Seattle with administrative offices and the neighborhood with a mile-long waterfront promenade with opportunities for everyone to enjoy the waterfront. The plaza’s interactive fountain, designed in collaboration with local artist Haddad Drugan, encourages children to play and adds to the seaside experience.
The planting design captures the effects of wind. Five types of ornamental grasses enliven the space with movement and sound. The groves of locust gesture to the existing groves that graced the sand berms of Golden Garden Park.
