The 1 acre Los Banos Food Forest (LBFF), located in the heart of California’s Central Valley region, will become a living laboratory and art studio for the students and faculties on the Merced College campus. The food forest will establish a sustainable woodland ecosystem providing learning opportunities, healthy organic produce, and foraging ground for wildlife and habitat. As the landscape architect previously on board in the Beacon Hill Food Forest in Seattle, Harrison Design strives to utilize community resources and inputs through community organizations, college students and faculties, and local businesses to encourage sense of community stewardship and responsibility. The food forest will greatly benefits the Merced College and the broader Los Banos community and truly provides an ongoing, dynamic experience in recreation, permaculture and sustainability.
