• Client: City of Seattle
  • Project Location: Seattle, Washington
  • Project Type: Public Beach
  • Project Size: 2 acres

As part of the team designing the public spaces accompanying the new Elliott Bay seawall along Seattleā€™s downtown waterfront, Harrison Design is designing the planting for a new beach adjacent to the restored Washington Street Boat Landing.

To be constructed primarily as marine habitat for salmon, the beach is home to a palette of native beach grasses, shoreline shrubs, and pine trees. Beach logs and boulders provide informal seating and protect the planting areas from storms. Safety of visitors is a primary concern, leading us to chose a plants to maintain sight lines.
